Back in our room, I found Dawn relaxing on king-sized bed,
propped up with pillows and watching music videos -- something she thoroughly
enjoys when we are away from the kids. In about an hour, we were slated to
meet the Armitages for dinner. But I found I couldn't sit still. I
felt so energized that I fell to the floor and did twenty-five quick pushups.
Dawn said, "Tim, what's got into you?"
"I don't know. All this pent-up energy. I don't know what to
do with it. Want to go for a walk?"
"I've been skiing all day, remember? But you go ahead. I'll
meet you at the restaurant."
Briskly, I walked the half mile into town and then strode
along the Bow River, trying in vain to enjoy the outdoors while killing
just over an hour. Arriving at the restaurant, I found I was still highly
energized. I decided to have a beer to see if that would settle me down,
relax me a bit. The beer had no effect so I ordered a scotch. As I started
to drink it, Jim Armitage arrived with his wife, Janice. Right away, I
apologized for having vented about my competitor. Jim told me not to worry about
it, but I said, "No, no, I don't know what got into me -- sorry about that."
